Disciple Class

Disciple Bible Study classes at Danbury Methodist bring the scripture to life, with in-depth discussions of what God’s Word means to ourselves, to our relationships and daily lives, and to our communities. Meeting weekly, these small group Bible studies explore our relationship with God in light of the biblical text.

The focus is not simply on learning more about the Bible—we study the Bible in order to let God’s living Word transform us into the people God made us to be. Two classes are being offered this fall:

Disciple I:  Becoming Disciples through Bible Study
In this beginning class, you’ll explore the entire biblical story in 34 weeks—from Genesis to Revelation, covering 80% of scripture, and the evolution of God’s message from the Old Testament to the New. Each week’s reading is encountered in various ways:  expert commentary on video, small group discussion, drama, poetry, even the occasional impromptu art project!  The focus is on letting God work in our lives, transforming us into real disciples.

Advanced Disciple Bible Study:  Under the Tree of Life
A focused study growing out of Disciple I, this class concentrates on the books of the Old Testament called The Writings: Ruth, Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Lamentations, and Daniel. New Testament Scriptures include the Gospel and Letters of John, James, Jude, and Revelation. This class is open to all graduates of Disciple I.

Classes begin each year in early September, and run 34 weeks.
